Vortec eng swap

I would like to know if a 2001 chevy 2500 with a 6.0 liter Vortec eng is a desired eng to use for a swap.What is the hp and torque on these.It has 146k miles and what would I be looking at if I had to through the motor and say do some performance work to it as far as cam and so on.Thanks for any input

I'm doing the 5.3 swap in my 84 k10...ive seen a bunch of guys doing it on here but not around where i live (jacksonville nc) but i did meet a guy doing a swap into a newer mazda rx8, looks pretty good...you can check out my swap in my signature, I'm not a professional mech or anything but its coming along pretty good with the help of the guys here

it would be my pick. easy to swap cheap to buy and easy to make 400hp.
