Which is more popular: rally's or steelies?
Just curious to know if steelies are a more popular choice for our trucks or if most of us would prefer rally's from a later model truck? Personally I would much rather have steelies.

Re: Which is more popular: rally's or steelies?
I have narrow steelies and wide rallyes. Running the rallyes right now. But I prefer the look of steelies and I really want to find a set of 8" wide ones.

Re: Which is more popular: rally's or steelies?
I prefer steelies but am running rallies until the truck is ready forpaint, rims/tires.
I have 2 sets of 8" 5 lug stellies but they are hard to find and no one ever wants to pay for what they are worth to the owners. I love them... so I just keep hoarding them. Ill be using 2 on the truck Im currently building and running skinny steelies in the front. Also Have some 8" 6 lug rims that are (in my opinion) not as hard to find as 5 lug. I keep them for the same reasons. I think I have 7 sets of rallies varrying in widths in 5-6 lug patterns. Not braging, just showing the rallies are much more abundant than harder to find steelie counterparts. Maybe that is what makes them more desirable? Just my 2 cents. Mike and yes I have a rim problem! |

Re: Which is more popular: rally's or steelies?
I voted rallies because your question was which is more popular and I think rallies are more popular but I like steelies ! And I've noticed a LOT going to the steelies but everybody wants a pair of 15 x 8 steelies for the rear and they ain't enough to go around , I lucked up and got a set of 15 x 9 steelies for the rear of my 67 free ! And MAN WHAT A DIFFERENCE !

For the guys who want an 8 inch 5 lug steelie, it's as simple as hitting the button.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/wv...5044/overview/ With their three warehouses, you'll have them by the weekend if you order now.

Re: Which is more popular: rally's or steelies?
Who cares who likes what more? I've always liked both. Rallyes are just cool because they are GM Truck wheels and wide steelies have always been just right on anything. As far as pushing a button for 15 x 8 "6-lug" steelies, not happinin'.
The fact that there's a thread asking how popular steelies are proves that they have become a latest trend for the many. Rallyes and wide steelies are both a classy and subtle enhancement to any year GM Truck. They are custom without screaming "Custom wheel". They are what is needed to enhance the stance and run wider tires while adding a touch of style and staying with a somewhat factory look, like they belong on there. And,neither look like they belong on a modern car

Re: Which is more popular: rally's or steelies?
I love and use them both but I believe the trend at the moment is working away from the rallys and going toward steelies. After using rallys for 25 years I have finally started to switch some on mine out. With that said, nothing better than a big 4x4 with rallys on it!

Re: Which is more popular: rally's or steelies?
Which one is preferred? Man that's a tough one. They both look fantastic on these trucks. Color, stance, intended use, etc all dictate what wheel/tire choice suits a particular truck. Imo of course.

Re: Which is more popular: rally's or steelies?
Well the reason behind wanting to know which is more popular is because I put up a craigslist ad wanting to trade my rallys for some steelies. I want to trade partially out of need and partially because I like skinny steelies better (in general). Anywho, got an offer to trade my rallys for some steelies plus some cash on top of the rallys... I had assumed that if anything the rallys were more sought after than some plain-jane stock steelies. Am I wrong there?

I was referring to Cash's post. He said five lugs were hard to find compared to six lug being easier.

Re: Which is more popular: rally's or steelies?
I've got so many rally wheels that I've started using them for grinder stand bases and such. There's still two and a half sets of them stacked up in front of my shop with weeds growing around them. Now, steelies are harder for me to find.

I've never had any 10s. All mine are the normal 8 inch wide ones.
