Bed bolts.

I'm in the process of unbolting a fleetside bed, I am pretty sure i have all the bolts out, i even found the 2 bolts below the tail light seen in the pic, looking into the tail light cavity.

Aside from the weld at the rear pillar for lack of a better word, is that all? any more hidden bolts or welds?? having a bit of trouble breaking the rear loose.

What do you use to cut the weld? I used a cutting wheel and got most of it but an coming up a little short on the back end coming loose.

It looks like you are disassembling the bed sides from the bed floor so here are a couple of pictures. There are four bolts holding the bed side to the crossmember on each side plus all of the carriage head bolts on the perimeter of the floor. In addition the rear post is welded to the floor and crossmember. The weld is usually a pretty good weld but I have seen bad ones, also. I use a thin cutoff wheel and usually end up cutting the base metal to get the weld to separate because of the weld penetration. Sometimes an air chisel can be used to finish breaking the weld. Once the weld and bolts are taken care of the post is still difficult to pull off of the crossmember because of the tight fit and the rust build up.

The first picture shows the four holes. The second picture is of a bed being reassembled so you can see the oreintation of the holes.

Good luck, it is a lot of work to disassemble a bed.

Yea i could have been more specific on what i was doing sorry! Regardless you pegged it, i had all the bolts out and did grind the weld pretty thin but the rear of the panel was still rock solid, looks like i missed 2 bolts! must be because i was working without a trouble light and laying in the wet ground. LOL!

Got all the bolts out and welds cut today, both sides are loose but having a time getting the rear section to lift, thinking a pry bar?? that rust is some fun stuff!
