Water Pump

I am looking for a new water pump for my new crate engine, and no one seems to carry the same pump I currently have. It is listed as obsolete. The one I bought doesn't have the ports for the heater hose. Is there an alternate location I can run the lower heater hose if I can't find a pump with the proper ports?

Currently my top hose goes into the manifold and the lower goes into the side of the pump. The top port on the pump is plugged.

Thanks in advance.

Plugged as in a plug? If yes then take it out. If not does your radiator have a nipple for the hose?

What application are you searching for?

Re: Water Pump

Is it a long or short pump? You shouldn't have trouble finding either.

This one has ports.http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...3505_381122_0_

Re: Water Pump

FWIW the top hose on the heater should go to the pump or back to the rad. THe bottom hose comes from the intake.

geezer is right. the bottom hose should be 5/8" and the upper 3/4" sometimes the cores get installed upside down when replaced.

Find another store. Try NAPA or CarQuest maybe.

67-72 trucks all used short pumps.

Re: Water Pump

Long or short depends on the bracket and pulley set up. Factory was short pump

So many engines have been swapped over the years. There's really no telling. Bring your core with you for comparison.

Re: Water Pump

The reason I answered him like that was that he asked what was correct.

Sorry Man, You're absolutely correct. I guess I didn't need to quote you there, but I'm surprised when I see a short pump in anything these days. I brought it up because he seems like a noob, and I didn't want him to get the wrong part.
