Ok, who wants a crew cab? Or a c/30 wrecker...

Happened across a crew cab for sale... have some pictures I'll post if there is some interest, I can get the contact info for the seller if there's someone seriously interested (forgot to get it last time I was there, but have the info I was given previously to get it with... ph# to get the ph#)...

It's a black '71-'72 1/2 ton 4x4 long fleet. has a 350 with an auto, looks like later model buckets and console in front with a matching bench in the back. It does have A/C (four seasons... AKA in dash). Has a guage dash with a strange extra knob which I don't know what it does, may be a throttle knob, is not connected to anything. Needs some work, really good by rust belt standards, ok by GA standards. If it was a 3/4 ton I'd be after it because I'm looking for a tow rig... can't justify a 1/2 ton.

It's black with tinted windows and chrome rims, looks really sharp from a distance, but up closer you can tell it needs work. Probobly drivable as is (havn't talked to seller, only to the guy who's place it's sitting at), looks like it's in driving condition. It's sitting at a junkyard ironically enough, not in plain view of the road but in plain view if you go in the entrance. He's asking $2600

The yard owner himself has a '67 c/30 wrecker for sale, has a '69-70 front clip with a 71-72 grill. Matching colors and trim. Doesn't look too bad. Has a 350/4spd. Has it's original wrecker body. It all works. IIRC he wants $2600 for it, but it's been a long time since I asked about that truck and I may just be saying that price because of the crewcab.

Both trucks are located (of course, they are next to each other) between Fayetteville and Griffen GA.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up posting pictures of these trucks, mainly because I know someone's gonna want to see the crew cab...but I'm going to pretend I don't know that yet because the disc with the pictures is in the scout and it's late and I'm lazy...

What kind of rear doors does it have? The same as the fronts with the funny looking triangle filler plate or the other style?

There are two types of factory crew cab. The dual cab type, and the suburban 3-door type. Don't think there are many original 3-door conversions, more home done conversions. This is a dual cab type. It's not really a triangle filler plate as just a section of the cab. Think about it this way, the second row gets wing vents too!

With the color, it doesn't look too bad at all.

So I assume that it uses another pair of front doors for the rear doors?

Yeah, rear doors are another set of fronts... which also means no custom jobs if you need to replace them.

I'll post the pics as soon as I can... right now I just got badly soaked so I had to change and I won't be going back out with it raining like it is... besides I might damage the disks trying to anyways.

Be patient, I'll post them when I can.

Hmm...speedwarning?

Did you happen to notice a white line on the speedo?

Or it could be manual choke.

It's a big knob, full sized, like all the others, it's on the right side.

If it was a speedwarning I would have tried to trade dashes with him...

Don't think it's a choke, didn't have a label either, my guess is a throttle knob still, could be choke though.

BTW....

I'm not posting all of the pics for size reasons unless they are requested... some shots of the motor (nothing special, just a 350) and the bad shots and one or two more interior shots.

Really a good truck....

following after this are some shots of the wrecker...

Sorry dialup people....

This wrecker is in good shape.

Needs to be saved soon if it's going to stay that way though.

Has a good interior. 4 spd with a guage dash... converted from light... notice the e-brake lever rather than a pedal....
