61 Bel Air 235 dies when you give it gas

I am having trouble with my 1961 Bel Air... I can't seem to get it to run very good. It is a 235 straight 6 with a single barrel carb. I can get it to idle ok, but when you put it in gear and give it gas it just dies. I have put new: plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, rebuilt the carb, replaced the intake/exhaust gaskets and it just won't run the greatest..

Any ideas?
Thanks
Trevor

I'm no expert but maybe the accelerator pump in the carburetor. It shouldn't hurt to replace it. I changed a few in my Nova that had a 250 in-line six.

Nevermind I see you said you rebuilt the carb. Maybe fuel filter or fuel pump. I'm just throwing ideas out there for you.

Does it run if you add gas to the carb manually? Maybe the float needs adjusted. Did it run before you changed and replaced the parts?

Oh it runs fine idling... Its just when you crack the throttle it chokes out... In park it chokes, but it will rev up. When in drive as soon as you crack the throttle it just dies. You can look in the carb when its not running and the accelerator pump does squirt fuel into the carb..
