Is it a Sin?

If i was to change the front clip on a 70 to a 68?????? I looked at a very nice 70 swb fleet 4x4 yesterday with a 4 speed and orginal big block truck. I just dont care for the 69 and 70 fronts. This truck has no rust, is teal green (that I would change), and I can get it without breaking the bank.

Hummm just wondering, because it did have 396 badges on it and I didnt think they used the 396 in 70. The guy wasn't there when I looked at it so I couldn't ask questions. It also had Custom badges on it.

396 badges were only available in '69......I think '67-68's look great as a lowered street truck, but not so good as a 4x4. '71-'72s look best as 4x4's, or any year GMC's IMO.

I could go with a 71-72 front easier and I like those. The guy that has this truck is very peticular and hasn't really driven this truck that much. He has had it for a long time. He has told me what is wrong with it as far as he knows and he won't sell this truck to just anyone. He wants it to go to someone that won't tear it up.

A GMC clip would look better since you're already thinkin bout replacing the front end.

Headlights are optional

The 67-68 front clip is definitely the way to go. When our trucks were designed the 67-68 front clip was, of course, part of an integrated design concept for the new truck series. All of the concept drawings included some form of the 67-68 front clip design. In 69-72 GM felt a need to "beef up" the look of the truck in order to give it a more aggressive look, apparently to compete with Ford (As if Ford could fool anyone with an aggressive looking truck.)

Past:
'05 Sierra 4x4 - Had 270,000 KM and running well when it was written-off by a stop sign runner.
'94 F-150 from the "F word" company. I'll admit it...good truck. Sold what was left of it for $800 to a guy who came to pick it up at 11:00 PM with cash in hand. Hmm.
'79 Sierra Grande (Black) organ donor - perfect rebuildable 4-bolt 350 and a good TH350.
'76 Sierra Grande (Orange) - hate isn't too strong a word. Kid who bought it turned it into a hot rod.
'68 C-10 R.I.P. - Dad's old truck...too far gone to resurrect.
'59 C-50 - with hoist. Truck is gone, wife isn't. Nuff said.

how about a 71-72 outer and a billit grill, those always look good on a truck as long as it is done properly.

Thanks all......great answers. Now all I have to do is talk him down a bit and go see my banker (sigh)...........I will have to change the clor and the 4 speed. I'm too lazy to shift even tho I like the thought and the sound fo a 4speed. Seat tank needs to be switched out but over all this is a very nice truck. Thanks again for the great replys.

It will probably be pretty much a Pont's look alike, a little different color, a automatic, and different wheels and tires, with a sun visor. I can't stand copycats LOL.................... Pont has a very sweet truck. It was on my desktop for some time.

Whatever you end up doing, it had better look as nice when you're done as your '67 does now!

Mudder, whatever you decide to do, it will look awesome! Thanks for the kind words guys but remember, if it wasn't for Mudder's 67, I might not have ever had the inspiration to do what I did to my truck. Thanks again Randy, your slowly sending me to the poor house trying to catch up with you

I'm partial to 67-68 front ends but I do like the 71-72 frontends also. Thats why I have one of each. Don't have the burb anymore though.
