Wheel decisions, I need some input!

OK everyone I painted this truck about 4 years ago just to preserve it more or less. Well now I have a new bed and tailgate and getting ready to paint again with the same scheme. My question is: the pic posted has the 15" wheels with 255/70/15's and a stock stance! I'm thinking of going with the gray boss 338's or ridlers or rev classics in a 17" with 255/60/17's all around and a slight drop! What are your thoughts. I don't post a lot on here, but I would like some input please!

I really like the Boss 338's in gray. But try to go bigger diameter. 20's will look way better to you IMO.

I just don't know about the gray wheels blending too much with the paint! I don't have a lot of chrome on the truck, but I like the wheels in polished for the contrast, but I also like the gray as well to tone it down a little. 17's are as big as I will go, I don't like the skinny sidewall in a bigger wheel and tire setup!

I love the fact I am the only one around with the ridlers. I ran the 338's on my 65 galaxie but seemed like everyone had them. I like the Mag look of the ridlers a 100 times better.

I know this is not on our body style trucks but it may help lol

Grey Rally's painted to match the body paint would look tough on that truck...Cant go wrong with Chrome Smoothies W/Baby Moons either... I REALLY LIKE that paint!

If you like that paint you will love it this time! Last time my clear messed up on me so this time it will shine a lot better, I just can't make up my mind on the wheels! I like to he one on it in the pic but they have too much backspacing for me! I want a wider tire along with a wider stance!

Re: Wheel decisions, I need some input!

If it matters to you, and for info-reference, if nothing else...

Taller, narrower tires get better gas mileage than smaller, wider ones do on the road. ..And if this is really important, it's best to calculate your trans, & diff gear ratios & match the optimum tire diameter for them. (Pardon me, but I don't off hand recall the exact formula for this).

But also running this gear formula & matching your tires to it helps with the 'applied horse power & torque per weight to the road'.

IHTH

Michael

Re: Wheel decisions, I need some input!

This truck is somewhat of a custom build and will only be a joy ride, Sunday driver so to speak so mpg isn't really what I'm concerned about. I'm going more for a look and function!

Re: Wheel decisions, I need some input!

Well I think, after a debate with the wife I'm going with the boss 338's in gray 17x8 with nitto 421Q 255/60/17 tires. Thanks for the input and help. I'll post pics after paint and new shoes. Redoing suspension right now so It will be a little while!
