Removing weld nuts?

I snapped a lot of the bolts holding my front end together, and it seems like it would be simpler to remove the weld nuts with the bolt halves rusted into them and weld on new nuts than try and get the broken bolt out.
To that end, does anyone have any good tricks for getting the weld nuts off the panels? Some are easy to grind off, but a couple are in locations that getting at the weld nut on the back is going to be a challenge.

Re: Removing weld nuts?

As rusty as that one is I would go to Carlisle in a couple of weeks and get a good one. Those would be replaced in the repair so no need to get them out. On ones I needed to get out I had the best luck just drilling through them with a real small bit staying as close as I could to the center and then chasing that hole with a tap drill size bit. Almost all of those are in blind areas so getting to the back side to weld in a new nut is not an option.

Re: Removing weld nuts?

Those were just an example, and yes these will likely just get cut off an replaced with new metal. I do have 10-12 snapped bolts in various places all over the front sheetmetal though that I need to do something about.
