74' k20

I bought a truck and the title says it is a K20. I always thought 3/4 ton had 8 lug axles. This truck has 6 lug axles. I asked a dealer about it and he said it was a 3/4 ton. I have been told by many people that it is a half ton. Have these K20s ever been 6 lug or us this thing a puzzle that has been pieced together?

Re: 74' k20

Sounds like someone dropped K10 axles under a K20.

Or possibly made a C20 into a K10, and the DMV called it a K20.

Re: 74' k20

From the factory a K20 will always have 8 lugs.

A K10 4wd will have 6 lugs. A c10 2wd will have 5 lugs.

This is true for the whole squarebody product life.

What does the VIN say? The truck model, series (and engine) are coded in the VIN.

Truck, page 2: https://service.gm.com/dealerworld/v.../vincard74.pdf

Position 4:
1 = 1/2 ton
2 = 3/4 ton
3 = 1 ton
