1974 Gas Tank Probkem After Powder Coating
I had my gas tank powder coated and the over flow tube came off of the tank yesterday.
I am guessing the heat from the oven loosened it up. I put my hand inside the tank and it had a white substance in it.It looked like wax or a bar of soap only harder. What could that be? I took the tank to the local car wash and vacuumed it out but I am wondering if it is a sealant that was melted do to the heat of powder-coating? |

Re: 1974 Gas Tank Probkem After Powder Coating
Got my answer
I put the tube back in with some tank epoxy and the hard white substance ended up being plastic beads melted together. They used them to blast the tank prior to coating it and they fused together in the bottom of the tank while it was in the oven. All is well. |
