03 Tahoe help

I bought a Tahoe [03] and it had a Sony radio in it. Not liking the aftermarket looks in the dash I went to replace the radio. Knowing that the radio would have to be programmed by the Tech2, I went ahead and put in a radio I had on the shelf but I got no lights or loc message or anything. I took it back out cause I only had plugged in one plug thinking I might have missed one. well I have been all over the dash, taken off the top pulled out the seats taken the console loose to see if the Bose amp is still in place and it is. I have a 06 GMC with the dash stripped out of we were kinda looking at as a guide type thing, it has two plugs but I got to thinking it also had the XM radio. Is the black plug of the smaller going to the radio for the XM hook up? Have I spent several days looking for something that is not there? thanks Jim
