Think they are salvageable?

Well i have been messing with my front rims off and on and found out a little 2000 grit wetsanding and some flitz polish and buffer work pretty good for the outside but when I pulled the wheel off and actually looked inside this is what i found. Anyone ever salvaged some this bad? Not sure its possible.

Re: Think they are salvageable?

Absolutely.

On mine, I started out with 80 grit paper on a D/A sander and worked my way down to 2000 grit hand sanding and then a final hand polish.

I literally wet sanded until my fingers bled.

Then my wife made me new decals (she's got a machine)

I bought new center caps.

There's 30-40 hours of hard work invested here. My mind tries to block it out.

Where did you get the lug nuts? Gotta be cheaper than the chrome rusted ones I got that keep stripping out.

Re: Think they are salvageable?

They're the old lugnuts that came with the wheels when I bought them off Craigslist. I sent them down to my local plating shop and had them re-zinc plated. 25 bucks for the big pile of stuff.

Re: Think they are salvageable?

I got the outside of the two front ones shiny. Still have some gouges to get out but they at least look better. Still have the insides to work on and the back. Here are a couple pics though. Got some new Lug Nuts cause the crappy chromes ones stripped everytime i touched them.
