1961 front sway bar

ok i have used the search function and found all i can on the subject (which is very little). people only talk about the 63-66 sway bars but nothing for the torsion bar trucks. some guy on here was talking about how he was going to start making them and blah blah blah but i have heard nothing about it and even found the thread and posted on it but still nothing. Is there really nothing for the torsion bar trucks as far as front sway bars? also insight on rear bars would be appreciated to. thanks!

theres a member that used a rear swaybar off a 72 camaro if im not mistaken only had the mod the side attachment plates. i will ck for the thread and get back atcha, torsion bars are a different beast...

I bought one from CPP about 10 years ago. It worked great. All I had to do was drill holes for it in the frame and the lower control arms. It might have even been for a 63-66. I don't see why a 63-66 would not work. I would take a photo of it for you if it were still on the truck but I change sway bars when I installed the 77 front end I through away the old one because it got bent when the front cross member slipped off the jack and some how landed on the sway bar.

everybody i have talked to and everything i have researched says 63-80 sway bars will not work because they dont clear with the torsion bars. i dont,i have a 63 now also that i am building so its not as dire now lol

i found him awhile ago but last i heard he was making prototypes still. but ill check it out

Back when I had the torsion bar front end, I installed a Mustang II sway bar from RB’s obsolete. I used this particular bar because I just happened to have one left over. The only difference from stock is the bar was straight in the middle (they eliminated the droop in the middle for street rod applications. I used leaf spring u-bolt plates off of something else, and bolted them to the bottom of the control arms.

The passenger side u-bolt plate can be seen in this photo:



And the assembled bar can be seen here:



It was free, and worked great. I replaced it with the 1975 bar when I swapped in the disc brake/coil spring suspension.
