Re: lost and found where did u find your truck

I found mine in a backyard in Hesperia, California. It was in a Craigslist ad that said "1964 or 1966 Chevy truck". I immediately knew that it was a '64 from the fender emblems, but when he said that it had factory A/C, I though he was joking. I had to go and at least look at it, and when I got there, they were clearing out the house because he was getting evicted. He had no place else to keep it, and he was desperate. He was originally asking $400 and came down to $200 without me even shooting him an offer. I paid him $200, but I would have given him $400! The truck was beat to death. No engine, SM420 trans, 8-lug suspension, and dealer installed factory A/C. Oddly enough, all of the A/C equipment under the hood and under the dash was gone, but the factory A/C duct bezel was still there. Usually, that's the first thing to go. The part that sealed the deal was the factory A/C underdash astray, which I've seen sell on ebay for over $200 by itself. I tell everybody that I bought an ashtray and the seller threw in a truck for free!
Here is the truck when I got it:

And here it is now, still under construction:

UNCLE HENRY'S! (u Mainiacs know what I'm talking about!) On my semi-annual fishing trip to Jackman, in Northern Maine, hanging out waiting for the pouring rain to stop, pouring over Uncle Henry's, there it was, and not too far away, in Monson Me. bought it that afternoon, had to go back up to get it the following week, about 350 miles from home.

Found mine parked next to Dad's shop. Dad found it under Grandpa's carport. Grandpa found it on the dealer's lot back in 64...

Re: lost and found where did u find your truck

I found mine at a coworkers mothers house. He said she had some old cars and I could look around because I like old cars. Little did I know she had 80 plus acres filled with old cars!!! Well about 2 hrs later I come across this old falling apart shed. It had a lock on the door but I peacked in through a hole in the wall and saw an old truck. I could not help my self. I graves the handle on the door and pulled really hard and it broke clean off it's hinges! Inside was an old 63 c29 with 19 years of dust, out dated Texas rave from 1994, flat tires, bed rot.... But the doors were unlocked and inside the keys! To no surprise the batt was dead. Well I asked her about it and she said her dad al. Had never owned something brand new all his life except that truck. He saved all his life for a brand new truck and even traded in his 1949 chevy half-ton for it at the dealer. He loved it VERRY much. No one ever got to drive it but him. When he passed in december 2 1994 the truck was parked where he parked it the day before. It has not been started or moved sence. It took me a year to talk her into selling. But when she dud she said these exact words "if you part out, modify, sell, crush,or tear up my daddy's truck I will kick you're ass."

Re: lost and found where did u find your truck

Spotted mine about 20 years ago at a neighborhood gas station with a for sale sign on it. Guy had just bought it from an estate sale, dug it out from under years of blackberries, cleaned the gas tank & put new points/plugs/wires on it and was selling it.
Asked $1000, paid $950. Took it over to a neighborhood tire shop to get a couple tires and a guy with a real nice re-done '66 saw my truck and told me he had been trying to buy the front bumper from the old lady that owned it for a couple years and she wouldn't sell it.

Re: lost and found where did u find your truck

I found mine on Craigslisr. I looked at it for a long time and wanted it but didn't want to get a loan for it. I had a Magnum that I had up for sale due to it being a boring car to drive. I knew if i could sell it I would have enough to pay off that loan and have enough left over for the truck. I wrote the number down for the owner of the truck and sold the magnum the next day. I went to look up the ad and it was gone. I thought he had sold it but decided to call anyway. Dialed the number only to find out I had written it down wrong! I started dialing every combo of numbers I could. I even went out to where the guy lives and drove around looking for it with no luck. Now the search was on to find another old truck. While checking Craigslist again I saw the truck in a pic of old truck parts! Got the right number and called. Found out that the ad had expired ad he still had the truck. Got his address and drove out to check it out. I had driven by his house looking for it but it was in his shop so I didn't see it. Drove it around the block fell in love put the cash in his hand and drove off with a smile from ear to ear!

Mine was found on Beale Air Force Base and now lives with me over the pond in England. It still wears its OG paint USAF markings and stickers too.

Re: lost and found where did u find your truck

In the back room of the shop, where it had been sitting, untouched, for well over two decades. The truck is one of four that my grandfather ordered new in late-'64 from a St. Louis dealership for his business as a General Contractor. The truck was used as a work truck for a couple of decades and passed around in the family before it went dormant in the back of my father's shop.
