Damn! Missed it

Saw this ad too late. Guy had just sold it for $2300. This will be one of those potential buys that haunts me.

Too bad.
I didn't know CL had a Classic Car category, or was that just the title by the seller?

Re: Damn! Missed it

That is one of the nicest ones I've seen that someone hadn't done the full meal deal to. Great as a driver or a fantastic start on a build.

77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

guys be glad you missed it because the top was damm near rusted off! i called the guy and i'm across town and after talking to him he was typical B.S artist, i didn't even waste my time.if you expand the pictures you can see the big rust hole. notice the piece of sheet metal hanging over the windshield someone did a ****ty patch job. $2,300 was generous!

That makes me feel better. I was wondering WTH that was over the windshield, and yes that seller was a total DB.

Re: Damn! Missed it

LOL I di dn't even look to see where it was at, I just figured the flap on the roof was one of those guys that hang out around Tripple X's idea of a sun visor. Roofs can be repaired or replaced as has been proven on here lately.

[QUOTE=Ratpin;6642992]So did either of you guys see this in persom?[/QUOTEid]

No but I studied the photos pretty close and dose and don't see any of the normal signs of cancer or rust out or recent repairs. The primer looks at least a year old and any rust under it would pop out by now. And it may be that what has been offered to me and what I have seen on craigslist lately has been pretty rough. The last Task Force burb I looked at was rusted out in all of the usual places, the floor was gone in the back and the guy still wanted 2k for it because it was "a classic". I've got too many projects going now to even think about another one even if it is one to flip to pay for the others.

Re: Damn! Missed it

i live 15 minutes away and had the guy on the phone with ad pictures at 400% and you have to look close but there is rust hole that looks like surface rust but is hole and the guy finally admitted to it on the phone. The "I not a mechanic but thats what i was told" line gets old! 3 of us called sitting within earshot of call and heard 3 different lines of BULL****! changing a roof on a panel or burb is major job with all the supports involved. bad enough doing a pickup.

Re: Damn! Missed it

I finally read through his add where it says "has rust in roof".

Rusty roof or not, $2300 was a steal!! You can always fab up a roof panel.
