67 ball joints or 73-87 ball joints?

I'm about to buy a disc brake kit. Some brands use the stock ball joints and tie rod ends and some brands use the 73-87 ball joints. Is there any reason good or bad to go with one over the other? Is the only benefit that replacement 73-87 parts will be easier to find as tie goes on?

If you choose 73+ ball joints you will be searching for a 71-72 or 73+ center link, Or a tie rod adapter sleeve. Keep it simple and keep the 67-70 ball joints, I wish I did.

No reason not to use components that fit your 67 OEM parts.

Re: 67 ball joints or 73-87 ball joints?

I replaced all my front components with 73-87 a arms center link tie rods pitman arm ball joints. So basically it's a 73-87 under my 1970. Most part stores have on the shelf. The 67-68, 69-70, and 71-72 are there own animals. Not for everyone but I picked up a 78 1/2 ton front crossmember on CL for 75$. Rebuilt the parts and switched them out in a few hours since I had all the parts ready to go. This was a picture with all the part layer out and ready for installation.

Re: 67 ball joints or 73-87 ball joints?

Also the lower a arms are out of a heavy half 78 so by just adding them you will drop your truck 1". I did found it out by adding 1" drop springs plus 2-1/2" drop spindles and I got like 4-1/2-5" drop. So I had to put the stock springs back in. For a out 3-1/2" drop in the front.
Good luck!

Re: 67 ball joints or 73-87 ball joints?

Thanks for the input. I'll probably stick with the stock ball joints.
