Ignition lock cylinders same for small trucks?
I need a new ignition cylinder for my '67 C50, but can only find them for C10-30, wouldn't they all be the same? If not, where could I find one for my truck?
Thank you |

I believe they would be the same, although auto electrics sure is not my specialty. If you buy one, make sure all the electrical prongs match what you have.

Good point, but then again this is new to me since I've never replaced one. If/when I do, I'll take some good pictures.

Tumblers are the same, and although there are different switches ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I think 5 spade and 7 spade, tumblers fit many switches .
Problem lies in getting tumbler out of the dash, if you dont have a key so you can turn the tumbler CCW to pop it out . |

Looks like I might have mis-understood. I was thinking Switch. If you need the Ignition Lock Cylinder only, I agree they would be the same, but it sounds like you don't have a key?

Unfortunately we have lost the key. Not sure what to do now, maybe just tear it out with force?

Re: Ignition lock cylinders same for small trucks?
When you back off the retaining bezel that holds the swirch in the dash, you sacrifice the switch. Then you pry the swirch assenbly from the harness block, and you put a new [or used] switch assembly with tumbler on the harnwss block .
I just had to sacrifice the switch and bezel and tumbler as I had no key in a 69 cab. But I've been ratting through junkyards for 30 years so I had the replacement parts . I found the piston from a brake caliper just fit my bezel, so made it easier to spin the bezels off and on . I'm sure there was a tool that latched in the 3 notches in the bezel . |
