Dodge Dakota door seals are the real deal
I just installed some junk yard door seals for a first generation dakota and they work great. Good seal, good looking and simple, no glue mess.

GMCPauls sells that kind of door seal for our trucks, also.

Those require adhesive to install. The clip on style are far superior.

Re: Dodge Dakota door seals are the real deal
I imagine it'd be great to pick up a used set but new rubber (regardless of design) makes it a pain to shut the door for a while while they break in. Man do they seal well though!

Re: Dodge Dakota door seals are the real deal
I have S10 door rubber which is nearly identical. No adhesive needed. A nice tight seal too...Just the way Walruses like 'em sorry, couldn't resist

I have been pushing the '87-'97 Dodge Dakota weatherstripping for years. Here is a thread from 2010 I posted in about them.... Plus many other threads over the years. I have used them in all of my vehicles. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=424746 LockDoc

I'm curious about the year of S10 also. Was there any change between the 2 generations? 82-93, 94-04?

Re: Dodge Dakota door seals are the real deal
82-93 S10. You can also grab a set out of a wrecking yard if you can find a good set.
I got them from a board member, GMCPaul http://www.gmcpauls.com/Pickup.htm. He doesn't call them S10 seals but they're the same. 9th line down, part #2660241. Here is a good thread on them as well. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=438649 I LOVE mine. Easy to install and have never fell off, or detached anywhere. Mike |

Re: Dodge Dakota door seals are the real deal
The profile of the S10 strip shown above is nearly identical to the Dakota ones I installed. The Dakota strips also have small perforation to expel trapped air as the door closes.

Re: Dodge Dakota door seals are the real deal
I ordered a set of the press in type one of the vendors had a 10% off special on last Christmas. I hope to put those in after I replace my fuel lines.

Re: Dodge Dakota door seals are the real deal
So after installing a new set of Dakota seals is it as much of a PITA to close the door as it is after installing a new set of the normal door seals on 67-72's?

Re: Dodge Dakota door seals are the real deal
Read through the thread I linked above. Yes, any new seal will be hard to close until it breaks in, but the above link explains what you do to fix it.

Re: Dodge Dakota door seals are the real deal
Do the press on seals do much to eliminate some of the wind noise as compared to glue-ons?

If you've replaced your seals with glue on and still get wind noise it might not be the rubber, your doors may not aligned correctly. Even if it looks lined up the front of the door may be adjusted to far out, allowing a gap between the door & rubber. I've fixed many a car with wind noise by adjusting the door (and then the fender to match) Mike |

Re: Dodge Dakota door seals are the real deal
Here is a follow up. They ended up being about 2-3 inches too short.
Original next to the blazer weatherstrip. The doors close tight now!

Re: Dodge Dakota door seals are the real deal
Does anyone know what the stock S-10 or Dakota length is for these seals? Rock Auto has both as sets, but from the post above from Daner it sounds like the S-10 will be too short. The S-10 set from R/A is cheap at $29 and the Dakota set is about $41.

Re: Dodge Dakota door seals are the real deal
Well, too short meaning I have a 2-3 inch gap between the ends. Maybe somebody else will chime in if they have similar or contrasting experiences.
