New steel repro blazer tanks
Has anyone bought one and installed one yet? I met Tim Christian this weekend at summerset. He had one sitting out and it looked to bed very good quality. I have a plastic one but it sucks. By the way, Tim is a great guy and was very helpful. I'll definately send my business that way.

Why does the plastic kind suck?
Anyone know if there is any demand for a 73-87 Blazer tank? I got a brand new one with my Jimmy that is supposed to fit it but I don't see how the PO figures that. |

They are rather weak, they have threaded ports for the vents which don't seal good with the metal fittings. Also, i'm conserned cuz, i've got one edge that touches the tank that i haven't been able to fix. I'd feel alot more comfortable with a steel tank

the 73-87 tank fits by cutting out the rear crossmember and making another one that extends out enough to the clear the tank and rewelding it. Which those tanks are alot bigger, but I don't want to butcher my frame.

Thought the plastic was easier to work with. Any other problems getting ready to get one. Thanks

low69cst,
If I knew how to do it I would bring forward my Post on this Board from 7/14/03 at 9:51 pm. We discussed our experiences in detail regarding poly vs. steel tanks and you can find alot of feedback there. Hope this helps. 72longbed out. |

I think i posted a few things in there, but i thought that discussion was on Old steel tanks. I was wondering if the quality of the steel tanks being reproduced were as good as the originals.
