Bringing some shine back help

Ok what's the best easiest ( haha yeah right) to bring a little shine back to my old paint. Pretty sure this thing was painted once but fits straight enough that if I could get a little shine I'd be happy.

Toothpaste? Wet sandpaper? What have you done?

I would try a soft rubbing compound first.

Clay bar it, polish it, then wax it. I used all meguiar's stuff.

I have always had good luck with 3M products. If its light oxidation I would use "Finesse it" or if it is heavier use "Marine Color Gloss Restorer"
You can get both of these at most Boat stores. Ever since clearcoat became common most consumer automotive products don't have the abrasive needed to restore the paints on older vehicles.

Tooth paste does work too but its a little harsh and dries too quickly to get a good polish. Makes your truck minty fresh though.

I use Turtle Wax White Polishing Compound by hand, wash it, then go over it with a couple of coats of Carnu-B Wax:

I have had really good luck with this process, even with thin paint. Here is the hood on my Red/White '70 with half done, half not.

If you can find it, blaster polish, it's made by the same people that make the penatrating oil, they quit making it last year but you can still get it online. works great. and if you put it in the freezer the polish works even better,i know it sounds crazy but that 's what they recommend

Is the paint just faded or oxidized? .. or does it have orange peel ? Is there enough paint on it (you think?) to polish it? Base / Clear when it was painted or did they go back with single stage? (If you rub over it with wax does the rag change to the color of the truck?)

No clear coat. It's been worked over pretty good the previous owner really tried to keep a shine on it whip it was his daily driver. Now it's just dull an has that chalky look and feel to it.

What color is it?. Metallic or no?

I tried this guys method recently on a 25 year old single stage stock color repaint on a '76 Granada and it came out pretty good. The autotrader article has plenty of detail, too.

I brought mine back to life with Meguiar's Heavy Cut Cleaner and a white foam buffing pad on a DeWalt buffer. I use 3M spray detailed to keep it looking nice.
