Manual or power Brakes

Hey guys what do you recommend I run. I'm doing 14" front and 13" rear corvette grand sport brakes. Not sure if I should do power brakes or manual. I currently have a 7" dual diaphragm booster mounted directly to the firewall. It wouldn't be a big deal to take it off. I have been told by a couple different to do it two different ways so I would like your opinions.

That is a lot of fluid to move...

If not vacuum power brakes use hydro boost.

Race cars have manual brakes enough said. I only put power on old people cars.

I have no problem with manual brakes if whole system set-up correctly. Ditto manual brakes on race car, NHRA C/SA, 3800 lbs. 120 plus MPH, stops very easy in short distance. Single calipers front, duals rear, stainless steel rotors ( lighter). Dual calipers rear to hold car on line at MANY RPMs waiting for green light, let off brakes and 2Gs of acceleration. Have not looked but will look at data to see what braking Gs are.

Manual brakes on 1986, C10, stops great too.

I like manual brakes.

Just depends on what you like both are good.

Mix and match??? need to know what you are doing, whole system needs to be designed as one unit.

Power - A nice set up makes all the difference and life much easier...

If you have the vac to run power that's fine. Hydroboost is a little cleaner look on the firewall but adds all of those hoses. Manual looks awesome and can work fine if set up properly. That will be key with your setup since its non-standard. I'm thinking of dumping my hydroboost and going manual.

I find that if I have a manual transmission, manual brakes work just fine. With an auto trans, I like power brakes, as you have to overcome the converter, especially when stopped. Manual trans, you can just push in the clutch and don't have the extra "push" from the trans.

Manual brakes is the route I chose. Ive got a 1'' wilwood MC mounted on the firewall with an adjustable proportioning valve, 15'' rotors 6 piston baer brakes front and rear. Caliper pistons on the rear are smaller than the front but use the same caliper body. I haven't driven it yet but it BETTER stop well!

if you plan on it being a daily driver then use power brakes. if it is a weekend cruiser manual will look cleaner

I don't know much about brakes, but all the research I've done and brake manufacturers I've talked to, seem to recommend the Wilwood 1 & 1/8" master for a set-up like that?

KORE3.com really knows their stuff when it comes to that type of set-up
