what gauge box tube to use for my custom rear frame project
I'm looking for suggestions on 2×4 box tube thickness for my custom rear frame project. I could go with 1/8 or 3/16. I would like to go 1/8th because I can get 10 feet of the stuff for $40. 1/8th seams real close to the frame thickness. The stock frame measures 1.40 vs the 1/8th @ 1.20. my thoughts are I will be fine using the 1/8th boxtube since it is boxed. Thoughts on this?

When it comes to important things like structure I tend to be an overkill kind of guy. With that said most of the aftermarket companies who sell 4 link and rear frame kits use .120 tubing. The boxed tubing is a ton stronger than the stock frame. Most kits are 2x3 tubing so with you using 2x4@ .120 you will be completely fine.

2x3 .120 wall is plenty to support the bed.
Well you be doing a cage? If so the rear bars attaching to the frame would allow you to go to .083 wall.
