I replaced the door weatherstrip and the beltline and the vent window w/s about a year ago. Ever since, the door is very difficult to close, and the window is very very hard to move up or down. It is like the window is binding and twisting the door and making it hard to close completely. Enough time in the hot Florida sun has passed to loosen up the weatherstrip. If it was just the door I'd think w/s, but with the window, I don't know.

I can't find anything in the Service manual to adjust the windows. Is that info in the 1972 GM Body Manual? Any other ideas?

I did silicone everything multiple times and only got a slight improvement.

As for the window I would loosen the bottom vent window fastener and roll the window up and down a few times. This should reposition the parts enough to allow the window to roll up and down easily. The retighten and check operation. As for the door weather strip seal, what type did you use? Is there a hole or slit in the weather strip to allow air to escape when closing?

I don't know if there is a hole or a slit. I'll have to check that. It seems like maybe the top of the door hits first and makes the door bounce. From the outside, if you push firmly just above the door handle it closes. With the window rolled down, it closes much better. Not perfect, but better.

This might sound overly simple but I had the same problem with my 71 when I bought it. After taking the door apart and replacing the mechanism and lubing everything up..... IT STILL WAS BINDING. On a hunch I used dry silicone on the vertical window track at the rear of the door... PROBLEM SOLVED. Give it a try, can't hurt and the problem can be caused by cleaning the window or door with something that makes the track lining tacky (fairly common I would think). I know it is a long shot but it worked for me. The door closing issue; I would check where the weather stripping is being very compressed. When I did mine the issues were the placement of the sill covers they were interfering a little and the flange that the weather strip attaches to on the hinge side. I removed the weather strip and closed the door so I could see where the door was too close to the flange. I bent the flange in towards the interior in a couple of spots and that solved my problem. I hope this helps. Let me know.
