Since we are on the subject, whats the difference between the 4wd/2wd bumper brackets. Or power steering changes them too, doesn't it. What about different years? Can someone share all the differences. Thanks

Lets see if I can remeber all this...
2wd rear bumper center frame brackets are diffeernt between coil sprung and leaf spring trucks. They mount alittle different to the frame between the two. 4wd bumper outside brackets are just for 4wd. There are differences between certain set of years. 67-70 chev and 67-72 GMC are the same. 1971-1972 are unto themselves due to the bumpers having the signal lights in them .. so they are longer. There are differences between PS and non PS but its just a knotched area which you could do you self to clear the PS if you had non-ps outside drivers side. Its the drivers side that has any difference due to ps .. the passenger stay the same. On 2wd the outside front brackets are 67-70 chev and 67-72 gmc, the same and 71-72 chev unto themselves. 2wd front outside brackets are not the same as 4wd brackets. Maybe I remebered that correct.. think so. I dont write this stuff down yu-know... its just common Chevytruckaholic knowledge...lol Rod

SO there is a difference in the rear bumper brackets for a leaf and coil truck?? I thought there was and I asked a few people but none of them said there was. I am just preparing to put a rear bumper on my truck once the snow melts. I bought the brackets and everything. Now what do I do. Do they just mount differently or are the brackets different. I have a leaf truck.

Thanks Rod,
I'm still learning to be a truckaholic, almost there, but everytime I read something on this board I realize I still have a ways to go. ------------------ Marysville, WA 72 K5 CST Blazer 72 1/2t 2wd Sierra Grande 68 3/4t 2wd Chev Custom 68 3/4t 4wd Chev Basket 93 1/2t burb - wifes

I've never had the leaf spring inner rear sport bumper brackets in my hand to see the difference but I believe they are longer. GMCPaul has made good comparisons in the past on these... but I cant remember right now off the top of my head.

Gee_Emm The sport bumper brackets work just fine on rear leaf trucks, will work on both leaf and coil rears. I just used the kit from GmcPauls.
