Introduction
Hello everyone! I’d like to introduce myself to the community. My name is Rick and as of February I am the owner of a 1967 Chevy C20 Custom fleet side. It came from the factory with A/C, Power assist steering, 3 speed TMH-400 hydromatic transmission and a 327 small block V8. It was made at the Fremont Assembly plant in California and presumably spent its entire life in the bay area as I just purchased it from a gentleman in Elmira, California (SW of Sacramento).
It’s a little rough around the edges and has some minor rust issues along the top of the cab and the bed from being parked outside…but hey it’s a truck. Other than that is mostly an all original truck with a few new parts to increase reliability. I've got the engine running reliably so now I'm working on replacing other parts that are going out (power steering gearbox, brake lines are old and cracked, previous owner gave the tires serious curb rash) I myself am not a mechanic and bought this truck because I love classics and I want to learn how to fix vehicles myself. I was hoping with the help of this community I can learn a thing or two so I don’t have to rely on my mechanic (hes a great guy but labor sure does cut into my tinkering money). I want to be an active member of the boards. If you live in the Fairfield/Vacaville area of California I’d love to get together and compare notes and trucks! |

Re: Introduction
Welcome to the boards. I got Rosie (my truck) about two years ago and have found this board to be of immense help. Ask whatever question you have, the people here are pretty forgiving of mind numbing ignorance (at least in my case they have been).
I went to High School in Dixon and got shot at in that lovely mall's parking lot y'all have down there. Good memories.......

Welcome, you will find the people on this board very informative. These old Chevy trucks are a great tool for someone to learn mechanical basics on.

I'll keep an eye out for "Ol Blue K20". I think my truck can make it to the neighboring cities easily as long as I take the farm roads! Thanks for the reply. |

Re: Introduction
This is the truck I affectionately call Tetanus. Its got some body issues and slight rust but nothing that would condemn it. Almost all the plastic light fixtures are cracked and need replacing and I'm missing almost all the emblems.
The second picture is of the dash. Almost all the gauges work perfectly, with the exception of the temperature gauge and the battery gauge (battery line should be fixed soon). The speedo bounces between 20 and 30mph but stays steady at all other speeds. The bed is completely worthless right now. I have 1" plywood put into the bed so I can haul some stuff around...but wouldnt push my luck too far putting heavy stuff in it. As you can see from the interior the bench seat is pretty worn. I bought a cheap seat cover to keep the seat from tearing more. Getting a new seat is pretty low on the list of priorities right now. The last picture is of the high quality permanent marker job the previous owners did to the "CHEVROLET" on the back. From a distance it just looks faded and old...but when you get close you can see how obvious the marker job is. I've only gotten a few quotes for a sand/paint job and dont have $2500 right now to get it done...so the marker job stays for now :-/ Hope you guys like the pictures, lemme know if you have any questions! |

"That'll buff right out".
Seriously, nice truck. Has good bones. You can take a project anywhere starting with something as solid as that. Welcome to the board. |
