smooth 69 gmc how to

Hi all,
I am looking at how to smooth my 69 gmc. what I want is to take
off the old crome. I plan on leaving the door handles drip rails.
what I want to know is how to clean up the grill. last weekend
I seen a 67ish gmc on I think hot rod tv on tnn. it was black
almost all black, I think I finally found the look of my truck that I want to head to, although mine will be four wheel drive.
SO my question is how much of the original grill do you need to keep.

If you have pictures of the front end of a solid color GMC
I would love to see them .

Thanks!

Mike

69GMC Camper.

I looks like they kept all the crome thati s just below the front
of the hood, and the side piece's is this how you see it?

Also does it apair that right side marker on the front is on.

I just started tearing down my truck and was surprised to find
no light or even a spot for a light for the side markers
do all of these truck have this? maybe time for another thread.

thanks for the photo.
