Anyone installed IFS and kept the 235?
After my son sliding off the road due to a flat tire with a 4" drop axle followed by snapping a mono leaf in half I am hesitantly thinking of an IFS for my 59 1/2 ton.
Has anyone done IFS and kept the 6 banger and 3 on the tree? Any build threads? Thanks Dave |

Re: Anyone installed IFS and kept the 235?
I don't know why it couldn't be done. Look though the build threads on TF trucks and check for MII or other crossmember installs and see if they left enough of the front crossmember for your motor mounts. If you don't have the bolt holes for side mounts that would be the big issue. There are also a couple of threads on Jag XJ crossmembers on TF trucks and they have the rack on the back side of the crossmember. That could possibly create pan clearance problems if the pan is too low.

Re: Anyone installed IFS and kept the 235?
The bottom of my axle is only 8 1/2 inches from the pavement with 28 inch tires. I've always thought that dropping one three or four inches would put the axle so close to the ground that I would not be comfortable driving it. I know that there are plenty of dropped axles running around but it just seems to low for me.
