Hei swap ??????
So I scored a brand new Mallory HEI distributor at a auction on Ebay for a Really Good Price! Does anyone have any info or links to a thread as to installing it into my 72. How to hook up the wire harness. Ant info will be greatly helpful.

John, you have a resistor wire in there going to the dist that needs to be removed. Lots of people run a dedicated wire from the fuse box 12 volt keyed on, For the sake of safety I suggest you use a pretty heavy gauge wire. Also know that the plugs will need a different gap, some as high as .45. I think the normal range for the gap is around the .30 to .45 depending on the plug and other whatnots but someone else might be better with that spec, it has been a while since I have done a tune on anything. Stock gap on a HEI truck is .045". I'm running .050" on mine but I also have a complete system from MSD.

kcsa; thank you for the link, it has some helpful info on there
hugger; the wire your describing, is that on the existing dist. that's in the truck, or the new HEI that's not installed? (yet!). As for the wire gauge, I have a good assortment of new wires since I install stereos and accessories as part of a second business. I am thinking that 12 ga wire should be sufficiant

12 guage is good tap in at your fuse box terminal unused ignition. I made the mistake of using the little yellow wire off the starter and got afterfire because of not enough voltage.
