5.3l LS corvette fuel pressure regulator
For my 5.3l LS engine I need a constant flow of 58psi. Never before have i used a regulator but nows the time to get one. What I don't understand is that i have my fuel line from my pump to motor, then my return line from my motor to the gas tank. With this corvette fuel regulator and filter it has two ports, one for inline fuel and return and one outline port to the motor. Do I mount this in my engine bay and run two return lines? One line coming from this regulator and then another from the motor? Or just splice into the return line? Thanks for the help

Re: 5.3l LS corvette fuel pressure regulator
LS uses a single line only, no return line. Mount the regulator as close to the tank as possible to keep you return lines as short as possible.

Re: 5.3l LS corvette fuel pressure regulator
As stated earlier, mount vette filter close to tank, run line from pump to filter, and from filter to engine, and return from filter to tank, Best bet-swap out your fuel rails for the non-return style. Much easier/better/safer than trying to cap the old regulator.

Re: 5.3l LS corvette fuel pressure regulator
I think it depends on what year of 5.3 you have. Not sure what year it changed, but there are two types of fuel systems. 1 style has a diaphram style regulator at the fuel rail on motor (requires return line attached to fuel rail). the other type uses the filter /regulator which can be mounted close to your tank.

Re: 5.3l LS corvette fuel pressure regulator
Its out of a 2004 Avalanche 1500. I have a main fuel line and a return line. would it be easiest and make the most sense to just splice into the return i have already ran? Pump to filter, filter to engine, engine return spliced into the line from the filter, then to the tank. Wont I lose 1-2 psi from the filter being to close to the tank? Its a good 10 foot run of 3/8 fuel line

Re: 5.3l LS corvette fuel pressure regulator
my 2004 came out of a GMC sierra & don't have the return type fuel rail. If you have a return line from the fuel rail, you dont need the filter / regulator.

Yep. If you have two fittings on the fuel rail, run a filter only not a filter/regulator combo.

Re: 5.3l LS corvette fuel pressure regulator
I can feel a fair amount of gas coming through the return line when i would start up the truck, is that normal?? The reason i ask this fuel question is because the engine idles nicely then goes to hell about 2min. It starts to shake violently, chugs along and then dies. The only reason i can think of is something to do with the fuel.

Re: 5.3l LS corvette fuel pressure regulator
It probably is something to do with fuel but Possibly in the tune. It should be trying to go closed loop about a min or two after starting up that may be when your problem starts. You do need to get the regulator problem sorted out though. If you have a regulator at the rail like was stated earlier you don't need the corvette style regulator/filter.

Re: 5.3l LS corvette fuel pressure regulator
I seen an article on this very subject, it was on vetteworks, I have a few pictures showing how they solved the whole regulator problem with a single line system.....here you go, hope this helps.....
