Tire Size Question on 84 K10 w/ 4" Lift

My K10 currently has a 4" lift with 35" tires riding on the original 15" stock wheels. I feel that they might be too big because they rub when you turn the wheel fully left or right. My friend is junking his 88 Ford Ranger w/ 2" body lift which is currently sitting on 31" brand new off road tires and I'm being told I can have them for nothing. Both are on a 15" wheel so I know I can mount them, but would my truck look stupid with the smaller tires? My current tires are dryrotted by the way so they really should be replaced but I just don't have the loot to go out and drop almost $900 on a new set of rubber. Anyone with pictures of a K10 (really any full size rounded line) with 31's on it I'd love to see them.

Take a pic of yours with the 35's and then imagine em with about 4" less sidewall. Way to much wheel well space. I had 4" with 35's n no problem. My 2ć, i'd take em n sell em to fund new 35's that "measure" about 34" tall inflated.

Here's a photo of the truck with the current tires.

Looks like a solid start!! I still think 31's will look goofy. Actually looks A LOT how i bought mine. Except lots, lots, and lots of rust. Here is one with a 4" lify and 33-12.50's. So it'll only get worse going smaller.

Yeah agreed. I'm torn between riding on my current dry rotted 35's which look better, or swapping out to some brand new 31's that I won't have to second guess whether or not they'll flatten on me.....

Re: Tire Size Question on 84 K10 w/ 4" Lift

Dude! I have an 84 K10 with a 4" lift, and I bought 31's on purpose last fall! I actually like the look of the 31's. This is a plow truck and has a tired 305 iwith 3.08 gears in it, so I figured 33's would be unnecessary. Ignore the smoke coming from the hood. The motor is TIRED.

Re: Tire Size Question on 84 K10 w/ 4" Lift

In my opinion a 35" tire on a 4" lift is to much tire. They will rub if you get off the street. A 33" is a perfect fit. It usually wont rub and has enough tire to look great also. A 31" will work and won't look terrible but a 33" would look better to me.

35's should fit just fine. Where are they rubbing? You may need wheels that space them out a little further if they're rubbing the frame/leaf springs.

If you space 35's out to far then they will catch the back of the fender when you turn. I've seen the lower back part of fenders bent because of it.

That's perfect, pretty much what I needed to see. I also found out the 31's are only 10.5" wide. I'm wondering if that's too narrow.......

Re: Tire Size Question on 84 K10 w/ 4" Lift

It looks like 33's are the perfect size; not too big and not too small. When I ran 35's with a 2 inch lift I had to cut quite a bit off the front fenders. With the 33's I had before that I had to trim a little bit off. With a 4" lift you shouldn't have to do any trimming to run 33's.

Those tires on my truck are 31x10.50. A bit thin for mud bit good in the snow.
