Core Support questions...

I have a 1972 Blazer..yet I think that the PO put a 68 front clip on it.. There was definatelly a 68 grill on it...but it wasn't installed properly..(Zip ties)...so I'm close to getting it painted..and not long after will be the process of grills..etc....so my question is this..besides the grille style...what other differences should I be aware of with a 68 core support on a 72 blazer....will there be major problems down the road?.. should I go ahead and get a 72 core support now..(Body hasn't been put back together yet)... does it matter at all?...etc..etc... Any help would be greatly appreciated.. ............as I was.... I think from the only side picture I have.. that I may indeed have a 72 core support...but the PO tried to rig a 68 grille in there without knowing what the hell he was doing....no picture of the front..so I'll have to go snap another one to make absolutly positive...but I am 90% sure from this angle that it's a 72 support.

Re: Core Support questions...

I took a look at your build thread and the pictures there show a 69/70 grill and a 69-72 core support. the only thing you would need to put the 71/72 grill on are.. the grill and grill center support, 71/72 hood latch and a 71/72 bumper with outer brackets (unique to 71/72 4X4)

Re: Core Support questions...

Ditto.... You will have to remove the bow tie from the hood and fill the holes unless you want two haha... My 69 blazer had a 69/70 hood with 71/72 grill.

Re: Core Support questions...

and that's why this site is an absolute necessity when it comes to a rookie rebuilding a vehicle...you guys are awesome thanks.... Yeah.. hood actually was in horrible shape
lots of rust...actually..the entire damn thing had lots of rust..so at the point the only original metal is the front left fender... ..so I'll go out and get a hood latch... already bought a new hood.. so hopefully some paint will get on there soon..
