Build dates

Hi I live in Australia and resently bought a unlicensed 1973 C10 what I need to find out is there a way I can find the build month I've worked out the year no worries ?
The reason I need to no is if it was built before July 1973 it doesn't have to comply with Australian ADR rules so I don't have to get it inspected by a engineer.
I have the VIN number and chassis number but there is no build dates any where to be found.
VIN #CCY143Z------
Chassis #C3Z10----
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks Kev

Re: Build dates

Have you checked with your local auto dealer? If you PM me the full 13 digits, I will check with our parts department to see if they can decode it. I can't make any promises though, sometimes they are too old to come up in the catalog.

Re: Build dates

Could you use casting dates as info for documentation? Heads and blocks have them. I thought the trim tag had date info also.

Re: Build dates

Would be on the blue tag in the drivers door jamb. Chances are very very very good it has a build date before July since by August they were making the next year models.

First photo you can barely make out the 04 / 73 in the top right corner. Second photo it is very clear on the 74 model of a production date of 08 / 73 (was a 74 model).

Re: Build dates

Thanks for your help guys , I can't use engine cast dates as it's got a 454 in it was factory 350 and that tag seems to have been removed probably when it was painted years ago.

Re: Build dates

I had them run the VIN and the catalog showed the basics but the build date line was blank. Sorry I couldn't help, Buddy.

Re: Build dates

Put your full vin up here and it should we should be able to estimate build date by comparing with known build dates from the same plant. The plant vins should be in sequence starting with 100000 typically.
Most likely was built before July as most plants would be building 74s by then
