Spray in Bed Liner

Any special prep need to be done to the bed before spraying that stuff? I'm going to bring to a shop that does it, but want to make sure the surface is prepped correctly so the stuff doesn't start chipping off in a year or so. The bed floor is all metal and in average condition w/some surface rust. Interior bedsides are all covered w/paint.

Obviuosly it needs to be clean and oil/grease free. Do I sand it? Get it sandblasted? Wire brush it? Thoughts? Thanks.

Yes, what ever the shop sprays on it. I'm not doing the "do-it-yourself" stuff.

If it is a true LINE X, just clean it and they should take care of the rest. Also carries lifetime covarge as long as you own it. had my 02 Chevy done in 03 and no problems.

if you are paying one of the liner shops, no prep is required, they do it. If you don't trust them, then you could scuff with scotch brite. But, also, if you don't trust them, then you probably shouldn't go there in the first place. So, I'd just take it to them and let them do what they do, you're paying them to do it anyway, even if you prep it. For what it's worth - I think LineX is the best spray-in company out there. I should know, I have a rhino liner in my driver... Doh. WISH I'd gone with LineX.

I have Line-X with Kevlar in my 07 Duramax, sprayed in 07. Not a chip in it! It is brutal tough! .02

I just had Line-X done my entire 72 K5 Blazer. (see link in signature) They got a bare tub that was sand blasted. They have a special primer that has a 6/8/10 hour (dont remember) flash/cure time. This is only for bare metal.

I also had them do a factory painted bumber cover, a new steel bumper, and a black plastic air dam. I didn't see the prep on any of it, but its colormatched to my white 2008 GMC. They have a UV sealer that goes over the top to prevent discoloration. They can color match almost anything, but of course it costs more.

Factory paint gets the clear sanded to a ruff but even surface. If the paints flakig off the bed, the Line-X will too. If the sides of you truck have ok paint, thay may just need to do some extra prep on the floor.

The Line-X dealer does everthing. Just make sure its empty and wash is down before you bring it. It makes it easier for them to determine how much prep it really needs.

Yep. Don't waste your money on anything but the Line-X. It's usually more expensive, but worth it.
