Tomorrow the fun starts

I will be in SC by 8:30am tomorrow then its off to my brothers shop to spend four days working on the new project, a 69 two wheel drive LB. Need to figure out what to do about the engine, where the one starter bolt goes they broke the block. New brake lines all the way around, adding a PB booster. Spending some time inside the cab cleaning and seeing what I bought. Need to buy a battery. Going to be busy four days for sure. Ill post some pictures tomorrow, its going to be a DD.

Good luck. I am on hold for now....it's pretty chilly here in WV so I will put off my chemical cleaning project and painting until it warms up on Tuesday.

The PO had ground that side of the block flat, we have three options. Weld a stud on the side of the block, weld a threaded tube on the side. Last choice local machine shop says they can build it up and thread it. Two week wait time. Going to try to weld it ourself, if that fails it's going to the machine shop.

The July issue of Popular Hot Rodding has an article on block welding. I would advise you to check that out first. You just might ruin that block for good if you try and weld it as is. Just sayin...

Re: Tomorrow the fun starts

Pictures from a yard that has over 70 67-72 chevy gmc trucks. Got a good seat with all belts and visors to recover. He has a real nice Crome bumper and grill for $200 that I am going to buy. Many complete trucks, just about any part he has. Just a local guy who decided to buy old trucks. Even has a few newer trucks with 5.3 for donor engines. I found the mother load!

I have a close friend that has a shop at his house. I found the truck on CL in greenville. Headed home tomorrow. I'm thinking about putting in a 5.3. That guy that has all those trucks has a 5.3 with trans, all harness and computers. It's off a wrecked truck, he wants 2k for the whole set up. Got the new rockers ready to install, cut the old ones out don't like the floor pan next to the rocker so I'm ordering patch panels where the rockers weld to. Got the old glass out, stripped all the paint off the dash and door opens today. 4 colors of paint. Fun day.
