Ultra cheap bed wood
Not sure if I posted this before or if anybody posted from last years Goodguys show. At the time, I was broke and wanted to take my truck to Goodguys. Dino was having his party- all the heavy hitters were going to be there (you know who you are) and I had rotted wood -weak in parts that I did not feel safe walking on. The previous owner had a piece of plywood which was warped and starting to split. I was on Pinterest one night and saw a wall covered in pallet wood- Cool! I had a ton of pallet's at work! Read-FREE !!!
Now to do it again- which I will..I'd take the time to plane it and take a little more time to piece it all together but hey- thought I'd share- took a couple hours- is hardwood, matches the patina of Loretta and I don't have to worry about scratching it. Here is a pic..

Re: Ultra cheap bed wood
I did something similar to that in one of my old beater trucks. The bed floor was so rusted out stuff would fall on the ground. It had a 4 x 8 piece of plywood laying over the rotted out metal bed. My neighbor had a pile of 3/4" x 4" tongue and grove boards in his back yard he didn't want. It turned out pretty good. Stained it with exterior wood deck stain. Free is always good. It works and best thing about it. It didn't cost anything but time.

Wild4wheels, that is cool, and I really like your truck too! Very nice color and patina, did you find that in AZ? Curious how you secured the wood, I don't see bolts?

Re: Ultra cheap bed wood
Wild wheels that really suits the truck, which is very cool by the way! I used to have a little cabinet shop and one weekend I needed a piece of red oak to finish a job, the nearest hardwood store was a four hour drive, I had a brainstorm and looked through my old pallets and found one made of red oak, saved the day.
Nice truck!
