Ok, quick question about AC compatibility…what is interchangeable from a 98 burb to an 84 c10.
Is the compressor, condenser a quick rundown of what is interchangeable would be great. As always thanks in advance for all advice. 98 5.7 vortec 84 305 v8

not sure if they would being that the models are 14 years apart. i ordered a complete replacement sytem from radiator.com and i believe i spent around $700 and that included everything form new lines and hoses, condenser, evaporator, dryer, orifice tube, compressor, ect

you have to get a compressor and accumulator, orafice tube, but the condensor i believe has to be changed because the 134 is thicker than the R12 and it causes a rough growling when the AC is on.... Experience. My AC works fine but is rough and growls. Was told it was because the Compressor is forcing the 134 through the smaller condensor tubes

You can build a hybrid system with the H6 compressor and custom lines. I did...
I would change the condenser to a higher efficiency parallel flow unit. Not because R134 is thicker... Where did that come from??? R134 is less efficient so the temp difference needs to be more pronounced than R12 at the evaporator. I would also flush the evaporator and any steel lines that are not changed out. Replacing the dryer goes without saying. Use Ester oil JIC some tiny amount of R12 oil is left in the system. Use a Variable Orifice Valve rather than the R12 fixed orifice valve.
