ebrake sanity check

i got new ebrake cables and the intermediate cable seems to short. This will be a series of pics starting at one drum and going around to where I run out of line. Is it short or am I missing something?














The kit from inline tube also came with these clips? any idea where they go?

i thought maybe they somehow secure these frame passthrough clips.

I don't have an answer for this, but with this post and the shock post, it seems you're always comming up short...LOL. but with the shock post, I dont know if I would like them maxxing out like that. just jacking it shouldnt hurt anything, but if you're going to be mud racing, and the rear always off the ground that sudden jerk will eventually rip the shock out... Very nice job you're doing on the truck by the way,

my cable i got from them seemed short also but eventually i got it figured out.

heres what i see.

the hooks that hold the cable too the frame rails need too be moved back torwards the center crossmember you have them up at the trans c member moving them back should give you more slack.

the clips,
following the cables coming outa the drum the first place they go through the frame (like a lil' c notch too hold the cable)the clips go on the cable there to secure it too the frame.

im looking back on pictures I took during disassembly and that's where they were originally. Ill try to move them back some though and see if that works. I don't really care where they are as long as it works and isn't in the way of something else. I also just had the thought that I should c-clip the other end of that cable before hooking those frame hangers and see what happens. Might be easier to man handle the cable into the hanger vs trying to pull on one end of the cable into the c-clip.

looking at the old picture I see my crossmember hanger things are much closer together. Theres no way those things are centered the way it was originally. I used the holes that made them centered when I put it back on. maybe that will give me a couple inches.

i just noticed you have a leaf frame.perhaps they are in a differnt location than a coil truck.

Is your new front cable the same length as your old one? In post #1, pic 4 it looks like the end of the threaded rod is even with the rear of the cross member and in the old pic in post #6 it looks like it is hanging over the cross member by 4 to 6 inches....

I don't think you are going to get that much extra cable no matter what you do.

The clips are like the ones that hold the rear cables to the frame brackets on my truck. There should be a groove in the cable housing end for them, right next to the bracket.

of course the old cable is the one piece of the brake system I didn't keep. I was cussing myself last night for throwing it away.

I think my crossmember is a couple inches to far back. Its not bolted in and I cant remember exactly which set of holes it used.

mines not bolted to the cross member at all but then mines a coil spring

no way that thing will fit. even without the frame hangers and even the cable connecting to the pedal it wont connect.
Im going to call inline tube on tuesday.
