Is a spare tire 1/2 smaller diameter okay?

I've used a spare probably 3 times in my life, 2 of which were a result of my wife jumping a curb Anyway, is there an issue with using a spare that is 1/2 inch or so shorter?

I could use the same size as is on the truck, but it would be nice to have it a little more narrow since I'm gonna keep it under the bed. Thanks!

You oughta be plenty ok. Narrower would be fine also--remember how much narrower the space-savers are?

Just be sure to use it in the front only if you have a posi or a locker in the rear.

As stated above, don't use if you have a posi or locker, with a regular diff your ok for short hop until you get the other tire fixed.

Thanks guys! I figured it would be ok, but I wanted to check and make sure. I'd keep the 15" spare under there, but it won't clear discs and it's approx 2 1/2" smaller in diameter than the new 16's.

I'm looking for a 5x5 donut spare to carry. So you're saying that the 15" donut spare won't clear the disc? Only a 16"? Please clarify
Thanks

I'm talking about the original 6 lug 15" drum only wheels that were used up to '70.
