rebuilding rear leafs + axle wrap

My '72 has coils in the front and leafs in the rear (3/4 ton, SWB conversion. Converted to 5 lug and I'm not sure what the rear is out of). I removed the overload and one of the leafs to lower it several years ago (stupid, I know...). I converted to a 1 pc driveshaft. The truck is lowered 2" in the front and 2.5" or so in the rear.

After getting it back on the road I noticed that my new driveshaft was getting a slight hair cut by the crossmember due what I assume is axle wrap. Further investigation revealed that the leaf bushings were completely shot, offering only 2" or so of travel on the driver side. I plan on replacing the leaf and shackle bushings. My question is: do I need to replace the leafs and/or add a set of caltracs? The truck is just a cruiser but I would like to stretch the new-to-me LS1's legs occasionally.
