What is this seal I found?

I was poking around soffseal's website, I found the seal in the below link.

http://www.soffseal.com/store/main.a...tail&item=9352

Is this a stock seal or is this something extra that Soffseal is selling? From what I can tell it sticks to the door itself and acts as a 2nd door seal. I'm tempted to try it as I want to cut down on any wind noise I can. Anyone here used this before, any thoughts?

I think what you found is the secondary door seals found on ?late 70's Silverado models. Maybe someone who has one could chime in as to their effectiveness.

I believe its for the 73 year models that didn't have the drip rail but fit all models 73-87.

Re: What is this seal I found?

My '78 Silverado has the seal from the factory. Still in very good condition too. It seems to help seal up the door gap because I don't have much wind noise there, just the window vents.

Re: What is this seal I found?

My 78 had them. I didn't replace them and I don't have any wind noise, but I put the later suburban vent window in it also.

Re: What is this seal I found?

The secondary door seals would get released and then removed depending on the economic climate or mood of the time.

Typically we would have a surge of wind noise complaints so we would throw a bunch of seals on the truck; they would last until the next wave of cost reduction initiatives when they would be removed to save money.
