Nice paint, but.....
Point in case, don't always trust a parts catalog. :-)

Re: Nice paint, but.....
I think the 4 wheel drive would replace the engine size on the front of the fender.

Very, very few folks would know it's not correct.

Re: Nice paint, but.....
The PO of my '69 C10 put the 8-396 emblems on the new fenders he installed about 1" above the marker lights on the front fenders - and yes he had to drill holes for the studs. Now to fix it I have to weld the holes and ruin the nice paint (repaint) or leave it as it is...

Re: Nice paint, but.....
CHEYENNE/20 emblem (trim & series emblem) was used 71-72 and mounted at the rear of the front fender.
8 350 emblem (displacement of an optional engine) was used in 71-72 positioned under the front side marker lamp. On 69-70 trucks it was mounted at the rear of the front fender, centered under the trim & series emblem 4 WHEEL DRIVE emblem (4x4) was used from 68-70. It was positioned under the front sidemarker lamp. So in this case as a 72 K20 it should have the CHEYENNE/20 at the rear of the front fender (where it is). The 8 350 should be under the side marker lamp. The 4 WHEEL DRIVE should not be on the truck at all.

Re: Nice paint, but.....
I agree, to each his own - and that many people wouldn't even notice this arrangement, HOWEVER, we aren't most people - we are collectively kinda the "experts" and I think it is very worthwhile and appropriate to discuss the anomalies herein - as long as it's done respectfully (which it is) then it is worthwhile pointing out the fact that these three emblems never ever appeared like this together and that they cover three separate year groups. If for no other reason than to make sure someone doesn't see it and think it's stock. Personally, I think this truck is gorgeous, some serious craftsmanship and talent here (have seen the seen the whole truck), but I'd also say that the seller probably cut about 75% of his potential purchasers out of the pattern because they won't pay the purist restorer's price with an inability to correct it without additional bodywork (hole filling).

The 4 wheel drive emblem needs to go under the marker

Re: Nice paint, but.....
I know it bugs you and will forever, but, it looks fine and fixing is a big headache. Leave it for awhile as it may grow on you and besides, your truck is now 'unique'

Re: Nice paint, but.....
Adding Super badges in an incorrect location seems to be one of the more common misplacements I see (should be aligned with the C in Cheyenne) - there's a really well built local SWB, 2wd but still nice , here in town with incorrectly placed Super badges (not the truck shown below)

I totally agree. He probably did it on purpose just to irritate "purists"
