Another header thread.. Lets end this!
Okay well my hedmans arnt working out for me. My vehicle is a 1971 chevy K10 manual trans, 4" lift, and dart pro 1 angle port heads....quite alot to go against. But I need to find some headers for my sbc 408.
Hedman recommended me part #69092. These would work if my truck was not lifted but since it is, its hitting my leaf spring shackles. It looks as though hedman 69830 could possible be the ticket but I have only been able to find people that have used them with automatic trucks. Can anyone confirm using these with a manual trans? Also does anyone have any other experience with different headers with a lift and a manual trans? Sorry for another header thread.. |

A lot of lowered guys use car headers, and these maybe the ticket for you.
Also you could try mid-length too. |

Re: Another header thread.. Lets end this!
Been searching the forum and it looks like Hedman #69230 or headman elite's. I just used the google search for our forum from the top of the page.

Re: Another header thread.. Lets end this!
JBA 1815 I have these on my 69 GMC K10 350 sm465 Rockwell t-221. I have stock heads on this engine. Fit is excellent. They are a center dump "shortie" header with ball/cone type connectors. Heavy 3/8 flange American made. The truck has a 2.5 inch lift. Hope this helps. Bruce

If you just absolutely have to have headers, see if the block hugger style will work for you

I've got a 4" lift, 350V8, sm465, t221 tcase, and headers. I just don't know what kind they are....Is there a way to ID them? Then I can help! Good luck.

Re: Another header thread.. Lets end this!
Should have gone with straight plug heads...
One option might be Corvette headers, 63-82.. They have virtually the exact same tube position as the truck. Not sure if they are long enough top to bottom but they look like they might work and clear clutch linkage. And you should be able to get a set for angle plug heads. I went through hell trying to find headers for the Jimmy back in the 80's until I found the Heddmans. But subsequently I have gone to the 2 1/2" manifolds, and maybe you could consider a set of extrude honed ones? But those angle plugs might still not make it happen.

Re: Another header thread.. Lets end this!
Well the angle heads (dart pro 1s) were too good of a deal to pass up.
I believe I have finally found some that will work. Doug Thorley THY-372Y-C they work with 4x4, manual trans, and angle heads. |
