I need to find a fuel filter like this:
 With the 5/16" threads on each end. I want to eliminate as much rubber hose from the fuel system as possible, and since I'm making new fuel lines anyway, I figured something like this would be a good option. Any ideas where a guy could find one? I'm having no luck at all.

Just verified... 95 chevy c1500 with 5.7... Can get this filter at any auto parts store...

Look at the application for a later model ford truck, carbureted 460 engine. They weren't very large though

Its a very good idea to try and eliminate as many rubber fuel lines as possible. especially between the fuel pump & carb.

While a 3/8 line (If I remember correctly) tube nut will thread into it, the flare will not seat and seal. These require an o-ring style fitting.
I am referencing Puraltor F33144, AC Delco GF652. Fitting multiple GM vehicles. |

I've hard-lined into those filters, I seem to remember using some sort of adapter fittings. ( This was several years ago, the details are a bit fuzzy )

napa auto parts have them , its just a inverted flare in line filter , instead of nipples a little more money , but a lot safer and a cleaner look

Whatever you do don't give up and use one of those horrible glass ones.
A fuel-injection-era one might have the GM fuel disconnects. You can make those with the Mastercool set (though I do not have the EFI dies you'd need). Next thing to consider is even if its a normal double flare, is it a metric thread? Since you're making your own lines that's OK, same line, just different nuts. But it'd be handy to have them when you leave the parts store. Kudos on getting rid of rubber. I love knowing its all steel except for two little flex sections of a couple inches each. And braided steel line is still rubber hose (which I have in a car, and probably should swap out soon).

I'm not saying every one will explode and kill you, but the only time an OEM ever used a clear sight glass on fuel it was tempered glass and physically mounted in a safe place with no rubber lines and generally in a completely rigid assembly of some kind. Steel's your friend. Heck, if it's a Q-jet just run the factory filter. It'll support 400hp at least. If it's a Holley or other, get something in all metal.

yep on the glass filter being bad news. my cousin had one on a 48 ford coupe, it cracked and by the time he made it off the road and got the hood open it was up in flames. to each his own, but don't use these

That's a good idea for a filter. Looks exactly like the filter that I put in my Toyota truck. I could definitely make something like that work. Just get two bolts for the filter. Drill, bore, ream, and counter sink to size. Reflare the fuel lines and done! Definitely going to look into it. Great idea Pritch.
