why does my tilt indicator light suck?
Guys
I just got the new tilt column in the 71 and got a new 1445 bulb in the indicator housing. Put the green cover on it and waited till night time. the light works, but it provides no illumination of the indicator at all. ive tried rotating the green cover and pointing the "slit" different directions, but it still doesn't do what its intended to do What do you guys do to make them work right? Any alignment or adjustment?? thinking about running it without the green cap..?? thanks |

And you have now discovered the number 1 idiot light. It is quite obvious that GM hired an engineer that was an idiot to design the gearshift indicator pointer and the light on their tilt columns.

So by design, they suck? Whats the fix? Run without the green cap?
Im thinking of running a little green led right up under the indicator housing.... wouldn't be dim-able though |

If you find a fix for it you can go right to work on the pointer that will surely be broken by that time.
