Help,my Electrical Problems Continue!!!

Well, I thought all was fine and dandy, went to my girlfreinds apartment to check on her box turlte and guinea pig while she is out of town, on my way back to my apt. I notice that my turn signal indicators were speeding up then staying on....I pulled over and checked my lights....no front or side markers and no tail lights AGAIN. So I pulled into a gas station and furthered the investigation. cab light still working....my cd player was blinking a bit...then I smelled something burning....shut the motor off, and checked everything, I have one of those braker type fuses on my tail stop fuse terminal and it was super hot...I checked wires as best as I could, and found that some of the wires on the turnsignal switch were melted were they enter the plug(switch side).....my brake lights were not functional at all, but my head lights work.

HELP??? It seems pretty serioius to me..I had to drive back to my place without tail lights...and I can't roll my window down..so no manual signaling...Man did I piss off a lady following me the whole time!!! My girlfreinds 63 is doing a similar thing, and she is about to replace the turn signal switch...would that help my situation, I have an extra one laying around in my home town...gonna try to get into town either in my truck or get a ride up there to fetch my parts and my steering wheel puller...DAMN.

Sounds like a short to ground somewhere. Maybe a shorted bulb, although unlikely.
Look for pinched wires both in the front and under the bed.
If you change out the T/S, you'll have the same problem soon unless you find out what caused it.

Roger, all I can say is I refused to believe my turn signal switch was bad because it looked brand new and it turned out to be the thing causing all of these type problems you are having. I bought it at the Chevy dealer and I am soooooo happy I did. Since you have a spare you might try it. It's pretty simple to install.

DIG on the turn signal...I've done it before....a bit time consuming...and something told me to buy a steering wheel puller sometime ago and I did...thank god., BUT here is what I found:

Light switch: 18 Br melted at plug

Brake switch: 18 W, 18 O melted at plug

firewall harness inside plug: 18 DG and 18 Br melted at plug.

Signal switch Plug: 18 W(to brake switch), 18 DG (to tail Firewall plug), 18 ppl (to fuse box) all burnt at plug.

I seem to have come to the cunclusion that my turn signal switch and brake switch are the culprits....it seems to add up.....will the remaining wires that are fried be a problem or do they all gotta come out????

okay found something.....
My horn is set up right above the drivers side front marker on the grille side of the radiator support. Earlier this week I realized that it was faceing up, and water from washing off my wngine bay and stuff got into the horn, so I turned the entire thing towards the front marker, and messed and pushed so it would not rattle up against the grill, and it would face down.. Well right now I just moved it to inspect the plug for the front marker and sure enough the horn was right on the plug, and I had smashed the purple wire just a bit. Maybe that 'pinched wire' caused my problem. when I get into town and stuff I'm gonna replace that too.
