Uh Oh, I screwed up!

OK... I did a bone-head thing. I wasn't totally awake this morning. I added some Barz Leak Repair to the 1977 Chevy Truck but mistakenly added it to the power steering reservoir instead of the engine oil reservior. Will it damage the system or can I go home and suck it out with a turkey baster? Afterwards, can I add back the correct power steering fluid? I feel pretty stupid. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Re: Uh Oh, I screwed up!

I would think it would be fine once you flush it out good. Take the return line off and place it in a container. Have someone crank the truck, not start(unplug your ignition). As the fluid pumps out, put new fluid in; until it runs clean. That should be good.

Bars leak shouldn't go anywhere in your truck. Period.

+1! It probably won't do anything good. It won't probably hurt anything but it for sure won't fix whatever the problem is.

I've heard that for years and years, but haven't seen or experienced it. Kind of odd considering the bazillions of units they've sold. I've also heard most, if not all, manufacturers put some form of stop leak in their new cars.

had it happen to me it has to do with where your heater core is mostly happens in cars the crap settles in the core and then plugs it up

Re: Uh Oh, I screwed up!

they sell lots cause not everyone is a tech and it is a temp quick fix when used the car is already on its way out so people buy it then end up getting the car fixed right or it gets sold

GM doesn't put STP in new cars.

I flushed the system today and then bleed it out really well. Thanks for the advice.
