What's the best way to drop the rear on a 69/70 coil spring. I only need to go down 1 3/4"

TF, you can buy 2" lowering springs or you can buy 2' lowering blocks.You can also get 1" lowering springs(maybe blocks).The advantage of blocks seems to be that they are tapered to the correct driveshaft angle.I would assume you could maybe get 1 1/2" blocks but I don't know where.1 3/4" is prolly going to be custom blocks or a block spring combo.Good luck.

Close enough. Do you know where I can get the 2"? The stance just isn't quite right. The front is 32", the rear is 33 5/8 at the wheel well. nit picking I admit. Thanks

use blocks and larger U bolts
Most Auto parts stores like (pep boys, auto zone, etc) have them

Make some blocks, get some aluminum that thick, mark for the holes of your u bolts and start drilling. Aluminum should be easy to drill.

So if going 4" drop in the rear, would it be best to still use blocks or coils???

I do like the fact that the blocks give you the proper angle for the driveshaft, but would only going down 2" affect it that much?

i bought my springs and lowering coils from early classic and i am very pleased with the results. the ride is much better than stock. i have a 4-1/2" drop in the front and 4" in the back and the ride is outstanding. hope this all helps!

hey dave, What kind of tires are you running with 4.5/4 drop? I've got a 4/4 drop now with 255/60/15 front and 275/60/15 rear.

Question

I have a 8" gap between the top of the tire and the bottom of the rear outer fender
I want to drop about 6 1/2" of that
so it gives me about (aproximate) 2" gap between the tire and the bottom of the fender

How do i figure that out ito use blocks.
Also can some on please post picks and spec on the rear with lowering blocks. so i can drop this down some

What size block Alumin should i use. ( i have some blocks, just curious on how much i need to cut or ??)

To go to a 6.5 drop you will need a c-notch in the frame.What size tires are you running.With a 4" drop on my suburban[2" spring,2" block]there is a 1.5" gap between tire and body.275/60-15.

I am not looking to C-notch the frame, I dont want to cover the tires in the fender wells at this time, just looking for a balanced approx 2" gap between them

SEVEND2, 4"-4.5" is about all you want to drop the rear.Any more and you will bottom out against the frame.
