Leaky gas cap
I have been having problems with my gas cap, it's not major like gas pouring out, but more like gas drips down the side and I have to wipe it up. I think it's a non original gas cap but I also have the slant 10571 and it does lock or seal if I thighen it all the way. Any one have any temporary fixes and what cap should I get, has to be locking

Re: Leaky gas cap
I had the same problem and could not find a cap to work with my 72. I finally added a second cap gasket and it solved my problem seals great now.

Re: Leaky gas cap
I stuffed an o-ring under the gasket on my cap to tighten the seal. Works well so far.

Re: Leaky gas cap
The inner lip that has a ( I'm at a loss for words) cam type taper to it has over the years pulled outward so its getting closer to level with the outer edge of the gasket surface. I took a piece of hard wood dowel ( I would have prefurred a brass drift pin or dowel but didn't have one), and began by putting the dowel on the inner edge of the filler neck and tapping it with a hammer slowly working my way around the neck till the gas cap felt right when putting it on. DONT USE METAL, STEEL OR ANYTHING THAT COULD CAUSE A SPARK! Just 2 cents, it worked for me...

Re: Leaky gas cap
Was just noticing the other day on LMC, I think there are 3 different applications. C20, and 2 different year ranges. The locking is for only 1 of those apps.
