New motor won't run right
Hey I don't really know how to explain it but i went from a 305 to a mild 350 (bought used with unknown cam I think it's a luntai bracket master II) The truck just doesn't seem to make the power it should it will roast the tires around corners and from a stop but it seems like at a certain point it won't accelerate right I mean it'll go faster but it like hesitates. I don't know how to explain it it makes a sound like wapwapwapwap and doesn't really accelerate like it should. I have the timing set at 35 degress total timing right now. It's weird sometimes with accelerates better than others I just can't figure it out.

Re: New motor won't run right
You've got 35 total but what's your initial?

Re: New motor won't run right
What intake/carb are you running?
Did you just reuse your stock Q-jet. |

Re: New motor won't run right
If it's the same RPM every single time, then it could be the secondaries coming on too soon or too late, or it could be ignition timing. Just got my 350 running today! Good luck!

Re: New motor won't run right
not sure of the total timing but can check, the intake is a dual plane eldelbrock, i had the stock q-jet from my 305 on there but it wasn't running quite right even after new gaskets so i have a 1405 on there right now. No tach but i will try to get one soon.

Re: New motor won't run right
Oh unrelated but the other day i noticed a pretty big coolant spot under my truck coolant was dripping from the starter? it was totally dry above the starter. I'm thinking maybe a tranny line?

Re: New motor won't run right
Manifold vacuum or timed vacuum to the distributor? Should be manifold vacuum.
Tranny doesn't get coolant. Has to be from somewhere else.

Re: New motor won't run right
Maybe your vacuum advance isn't working correctly.

Re: New motor won't run right
Could be the kickdown, did you hook it up right when you swapped carbs? Did you adjust it with the new set up? May just not be down shifting like it should...
